Lisa Ridgedale has been announced as a 2021 Female Trailblazer Excellence Award finalist by the Canadian Law Awards
Hakemi & Ridgedale LLP is excited to announce that Lisa Ridgedale has been selected as a finalist of the Female Trailblazer Excellence Award by the Canadian Law Awards. This award is open to all Canadian based female lawyers and the winners are chosen based on professional accomplishments, leadership, community involvement and contributions to gender equality in law.
Lisa Ridgedale has practiced law exclusively as a litigator since 1996. She was a criminal defence lawyer in Seattle, Washington and a prosecutor in Vancouver for the Ministry of the Attorney General before becoming senior enforcement counsel at the British Columbia Securities Commission. In private practice, she advises individuals and organizations in areas ranging from securities litigation to complex commercial matters. She defends clients facing enforcement action by securities regulators and advises market participants on all aspects of enforcement and compliance with regulations relating to the Securities Act, self- regulatory bodies, and exchanges.
She also represents clients in civil proceedings, such as claims for fraud or misrepresentation in connection with the purchase or sale of securities, defamation, shareholder and partnership disputes, breaches of fiduciary duty, and claims of negligence and professional misconduct. She also represents parties in matrimonial cases involving complex asset division, often relating to jointly owned businesses.
She is a past president of the Vancouver Bar Association and was an elected representative of the Canadian Bar Association, B.C. Branch for two consecutive terms. Lisa has been called upon to sit on various advisory boards over the years, including her past position as a board member of Fored BC. She currently sits on the Bank of Montreal’s Women’s Advisory Group. She is also a member of the Womens Presidents’ Organization.
