Karas is an associate lawyer with the firm’s innovation, data and technology group. He is licensed to practice law in Canada and the U.S. and assists clients with a variety of technology matters including technology transactions and commercializing and licensing intellectual property.
Karas has a Master of Laws in Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship from Cornell Tech (Cornell Law School). He utilizes his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for technology when advising clients. He has experience advising clients on technology projects and transactions, including arranging and procuring information technology services and software, commercializing and licensing intellectual property and privacy and data matters. Karas also has a strong background in general commercial contracting and serves clients with actionable, business-oriented legal advice.
With a particular interest in artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, Karas is continuously improving his knowledge of these fields and keeping apprised of regulatory changes.
Before joining MLT Aikins, Karas worked in-house at a global agri-food business and at another law firm in Winnipeg. Karas is called to the Bar in Manitoba, Ontario and New York.
