The Energy Playbook – 2022 Year in Review
The race is on to net zero. This year’s Energy Playbook highlights key developments in Western Canada and discusses some of the risks and opportunities for the energy sector.
Indigenous-led energy projects are going mainstream as Indigenous organizations and communities seek to supply their own needs and become key players in the energy industry. We are pleased to feature interviews with some of the trailblazers who shared their perspectives on Indigenous involvement in the energy space.
Also in this year’s Playbook, we consider what the Supreme Court of Canada might have to say about the federal government’s goal of achieving a net zero electricity grid by 2035 — as well as jurisdictional issues that may arise with provincial governments.
On the ESG front, 2022 saw an uptick in enforcement against companies facing allegations of being “overly promotional” in their sustainability disclosure. We also summarize the significant legislation, regulations, litigation and emerging trends that shaped the energy sector in our 2022 Energy Playbook.
